Spring Lacrosse
Pre-Season Clinics
The Spring season begins with pre-season clinics in January to help players and coaches shake the dust off of their gear and skills in preparation for assessments.
Spring Assessments
February kicks off Assessments of all players in order to group teams by appropriate NVYLL age and skill divisions, weather permitting. We may attempt to run 8U and 10U assessments indoors when facilities are available, while 12U & 14U are generally held on the Turf Field at Gainesville Middle School.
Spring NVYLL Season
Following assessments, Brigade boys play an 8-game spring season, competing against other clubs in the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL). Practices run once per week starting in February, increasing to two practices per week in March. Games run on weekends from the end of March through the weekend before memorial day. Once games begin, teams will generally have 2 weeknight practices in addition to their league games.
Spring 6U "Scoopers"
Each Spring Brigade runs clinic-style introductory sessions for 6U aged players. These players participate in drills and activities aimed at building fundamental skills and instilling a love of the game. The only gear requirement is a lacrosse stick, with gloves being optional but recommended.
